Description

Low dead space 1 ml syringe, fitted with a spike on the plunger to reduce dead space. Its low dead space makes it possible to limit the loss of product and to reduce the risk of virus transmission (Human Immunodeficiency Virus [HIV], Hepatitis C Virus [HCV]) due to sharing.

What is dead space?
Dead space is the fluid remaining inside the syringe after the plunger is fully depressed. A high dead space is associated with a higher risk of virus contamination and transmission (Human Immunodeficiency Virus [HIV], Hepatitis C Virus [HCV]) due to sharing.

Instructions for use

  • Open the blister pack and take out the syringe by the barrel. Do not touch the tip of the syringe or the plunger with the hands or fingers to avoid contamination, as the plunger can be used to mix the product.
  • Attach the needle to the syringe.
  • If using a Sterifilt: The product cannot be filtered with a needle. Slot the tip of the syringe into the Sterifilt. Gently turn 90° until perfectly attached. Filter the product. Remove the Sterifilt. Attach the needle to the syringe.
  • Dispose of the used syringe using asafe healthcare waste container.

Injection recommendations

  • Wherever possible, fixed needle syringes should be preferred as their low dead space reduces the risk of virus transmission if the syringe is shared.
  • To avoid vein damage, use the shortest and thinnest needle available.

Precautions for use

Single-use – Do not reuse.

Never share a syringe: risk of virus transmission (Human Immunodeficiency Virus [HIV], Hepatitis C Virus [HCV]).
