Apothicom Now

Expertise dedicated

to harm reduction

Apothicom is a French company specialising in harm reduction supplies for people who inject drugs.

Apothicom offers a wide range of equipment that covers every stage of the injection process, from the preparation of the mixture to be injected to post-injection care.

What is harm reduction?

Developed in the 1980s in response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic observed among people who inject drugs, harm reduction designates the measures and tools that aim to minimise the negative health-related and social impacts associated with drug use. These measures include the distribution of needles, syringes, and other sterile equipment for the injection of drugs.

From the Apothicom association to

the ApothicomDistribution company

Apothicom was created in 1992, initially as an association, by a group of doctors who wanted to provide people who inject drugs with safe and suitable equipment.

It is now a company with 10 employees, based in Paris, France, working to develop and market harm reduction supplies in over 20 countries, directly through needle and syringe programmes or via distributors.

Apothicom's missions

True to its founders' ethical code, Apothicom Distribution continues to pursue and expand upon its commitment to harm reduction:

We develop harm reduction supplies for people who inject drugs. We adapt these supplies as practices evolve, by focusing on real-world situations and by monitoring progress and research in this field.

We market the devices that we develop along with other harm reduction equipment. As such, Apothicom Distribution is a distributor per Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on Medical Devices.

We assist and support both harm reduction professionals and people who inject drugs in the use of our devices by creating and providing support materials (documents, videos, webinars) in France and worldwide.
All of our communications aim to promote and encourage the use of sterile, single-use equipment while providing information on the risks related to the injection of drugs.
